Indoor Soccer cancelled

When our indoor soccer program was suspended in December, we were ever hopeful we would be able to get back on the pitch.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case and all youth games are still not allowed.

With no guarantee that we will be able to play the games scheduled for the 3 weeks remaining in the season after the current order expires February 5th, the Indoor Committee, together with the COYSA Board, has made the difficult decision to officially cancel the remainder of this year’s indoor season.

We will be processing partial refunds as per the policy that was indicated as part of our registration process: If the Government/Health Authority shuts down soccer prior to December 31, 2020, $90 will be reimbursed; after that, due to fixed costs, there will be no reimbursement. This partial refund will be applied back to the credit card that was used at the initial registration starting February 1st. It will take time to get through all the registrations, so please be patient. Players keep their jersey.

We’ve been asked about why don’t we change to the training-only format that is allowed under the current restrictions. The COYSA indoor program is set up for most age groups as a game format. As such, many of our volunteer coaches do not have the skill set or have the experience to be able to plan a practice session, especially one that has to meet all the guidelines that are now in place. While some would be happy to do it, we have to be able to offer the same opportunity to all 468 players.

We will be in touch with coaches about returning goalie gear once restrictions have been eased.

Looking ahead, Clubs are currently planning and preparing for an outdoor season that should start in mid April. If you haven’t already done so, please visit the website of the Club in the neighborhood you live in for registration details:
